Mrs. Mary Kugelman, whose husband suicided in the Leet Lumber yards April 13th, has commenced proceedings in common pleas court to have her old name of Mrs. Mary Schirrmann restored. She says in her petition that she was born in Germany 53 years ago, but came to this country when 18 years of age, and has resided in this city for 35 years. On Oct. 6, 1865, she married William Schirrmann, by whom she had two children, William Schirrmann and Mrs. Anna Cooch. Mr. Schirrmann died a number of years ago, and on the 13th day of last March she married Jacob Kugelman, a widower aged 65 years, who suicided just one month later. She says that she will always be known by the name of Schirrmann, her friends and neighbors all call her Schirrmann and the use of the name of Kugelman, as she is now compelled to use it, is a constant reminder to her of the sad and unfortunate death of her husband. For this reason she prefers and asks to be restored to the name of Mary Schirrmann.”1
