“Adam Weiss, the well-known saloon and boarding house keeper, died Saturday evening at half-past eight o’clock, of liver complaint and complications. He was born in Bavaria, and was 52 years and six months old. He came to Portsmouth from Beaver, Pike county, and worked in one of the rolling mills prior to starting his saloon. He always did a good business, and was ranked as one of our wealthiest Germans. His wife died two years ago. The following children survive him: John Weiss, of Antwerp, Ohio, Mrs. Lizzie Hangs, Mrs. Mary Row, the Misses Annie, Louise and Clara Weiss and Master Michael, of this city.
The funeral services were held Monday morning at nine o’clock, at St. Mary’s Catholic church.”1
