Cemetery Notes:
WHITMORE CEMETERY was located just off Hayport Rd., west of Burke's Lane. It is shown on topographic maps. Checking this area on Jan. 26, 1980, I found the area has been graded for construction of a coal loading dock. One large tree stands alone in the mud flat, but there are no tombstones left. Fortunately, the inscriptions had been copied April 10, 1978 by Margie A. Lenyo and Helen L. Burton, and by Mr. Raymond Copley in 1963 (recorded on microfilm 317537 at Ohio State Library). It may also be the cemetery referred to in WPA reports of 1940 as Selco Golf Course Cemetery.
