Cemetery Notes:
- 20230408 Was follow-up from initial visit. Excavated and photographed all but one grave marker. Property owner stated that a previous property owner had been rumored to have used a tractor to knock markers over. Marker breakage at soil level and direction of their fall supported that story. One large sink area though to be a grave by property owner was determined to be the root area for a large cedar tree.
- 20230412 Continued search for last marker (Orlando Ball). Large pieces of tablet were located near the root system of dead cedar tree that appeared to have been pushed over hill. Other pieces of the tablet were located nearby. It is likely that Orlando’s marker was either engulfed by the cedar tree or was collaterally damaged when the cedar tree was pushed over the hill. All located pieces of the marker were moved back up the hill to its supposed original location and assembled flat on the ground. All located markers were flagged for easy in locating by property owners who have expressed an interest in properly re-erecting the monuments.
BALL CEMETERY is located in Green Township, Scioto County, Ohio about .3 mile west of Jewell Rd. and .15 mile east of old Rt. 52. The cattle have broken most of the stones. Inscriptions were copied January 27,
