Tragedy on the Tracks: The George Abshire Accident

George Abshire, unmarried, 26, brickyard employee at Sciotoville, who lives in Linwood addition, near that village, had a foot cut off and sustained serious injuries to the hand at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, when he attempted to board an east bound N&W freight train at Linwood. He missed the step of a car and fell beneath the wheels of the train.

Dr. JW Hutchens1, of Sciotoville and Dr. SS Halderman2 were called, and the man was rushed to Hempstead Hospital.”3
