The Obituary of Constable Orville Abbott

Orville Abbott, 29, for the last 2 1/2 years constable of Nile township, died in Mercy hospital at 1:45 AM Sunday, following an extended illness with heart trouble. He was born and reared in Adams county, but had been a resident of Friendship for the last seven years. He was a son of Merva and Margaret Hobert Abbott. He was married to Alice Dyer in November 1928. Surviving are his widow, his father, one half-brother, Marshall Abbott of Adams county, and two half-sisters, Jessie and Bessie Abbott of Adams county. His mother preceded him in death.”

“He was a member of the Eagles lodge of Portsmouth and known throughout Scioto and Adams counties. He was of a jovial disposition and well-liked by all who knew him.”

“The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 PM at Friendship Methodist church with Reverend TE Kinnison officiating. Interment will be in Friendship cemetery under the direction of Windel-Howland.”

“The body may be viewed at the residence until the funeral hour.”1
