
“Mrs. Dora B. McAllister, 1530 Robinson avenue, died at 8 AM today at her home following an illness since last August. She had been bedfast a week and her death was attributed to complications.”
“She was born in Greenup county, a daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Clutts Hornbuckle. She came to Portsmouth in 1900, and had lived here since then. Her husband James T. McAllister, preceded her in death in 1918. Mrs. McAllister was a life-long member of the Methodist church and had been a member of Trinity church since her residence in Portsmouth.”
“Surviving are three daughters: Misses Hattie B. and Grace McAllister at home and Mrs. Charles Crizer of Nauvoo. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hornbuckle of Ashland, and a grandchild, Imogene Crizer.”
“Two sons preceded her in death. Ernest died in 1904 and Prichard, a brakeman on the Norfolk & Western Railway died in 1909 at Williamsburg while in the performance of his duties.”
“Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday at Windel-Howland funeral home with Reverend Arba Martin of Trinity church in charge. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home.”1
