“Mrs. Lizzie Byerly, 79, od Sciotoville, Rt 4, passed away at 1:30 AM today at the home of her son, Lowell Byerly of Ontonagon Addition.”
“Born March 30, 1866, in Friendship, Mrs. Byerly was a daughter of Hartman and Catherine Betz Boltz. She spent her youth in the Friendship community and later lived in Stockdale and Sciotoville for several years. The last 20 years she resided with the son at whose home she died.”
“The deceased suffered a broken hip last May 27 and on December 20 was stricken with paralysis, from which she never recovered.
“She was married on April 19, 1894, to Benjamin Franklin Byerly. He died February 9, 1933.”
“Surviving beside her son are a brother, Joseph Boltz of Council Bluff, Iowa, and a grandson of Carl Wendell Byerly, at home.”
“The funeral will be held Monday at 3 PM at Windle-Howland funeral home, where the body may be viewed. Reverend JC Stitzel of Wheelersburg Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.”1
