Elmer Ruggles Crushed at Cambria Clay

“Death in terrible form was cruelly meted out to Elmer Ruggles, 48, while he was at work in the plant of the Cambria Clay Products company at Black Fork at 5 o’clock Friday afternoon.”

“He fell between two 2400 pound clay rollers he was cleaning and was crushed to death, ever bone in his body being broken. The man’s body passes through the rollers and was picked up, an unrecognizable mass, in the pan beneath the rollers. There were no eye witnesses to the accident and it is presumed that in reaching over the rollers Ruggles lost his balance and fell between them.”

“The body was removed to Ironton last night as the victim has a brother living in Coal Grove.”1
