“Fred Crabtree 1, 66, a timber worker of Lucasville Rt. 1, died suddenly of a heart attack this morning at about 8:45 a.m. as he was preparing to cut paper wood on Route 348 near Lucasville. He was born Aug. 16, 1891 to Amos and Bell Pierson Crabtree. He was married Feb. 2, 1922 in Portsmouth to Emma Pollitt, who survives. He is also survived by five sons: Oliver of Otway, Gordon and Christfur of Lucasville Rt. 1, Wilbur of Carlisle, and Donald of Topeka, Kan: a brother, Scott Crabtree of Lucasville Rt. 1 and a sister Pearl Wilson of Florida. Mr. Crabtree was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, a daughter, and a son. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the residence where friends may call after 12 noon Sunday.
