CCC Youth Dies of Strep Throat in Hospital

“James H. Smith, 18, Negro enrollee at Camp Adams, Stout, died at 2:15 AM today of a throat ailment in Schirrman hospital. He was taken ill a week ago and was brought to the local hospital last Sunday. Smith arrived at Camp Adams 30 days ago from his home in Cincinnati. His body has been moved to the Windel-Howland funeral home.”¹
