“George Colley, 57, colored, of the North End, died at his home in Paradise alley, Tuesday at midnight, from an acute of dropsy with which he had been mildly afflicted for many years. So far as known he leaves no relatives, except his widow. He was born in Virginia in 1851, but the name of his parents are unknown, they being sold as slaves shortly after Colley was born, and he never knew what became of them. He was a hard working man, and was employed at the Terminals. He has resided in this city for 33 years. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10 o’clock, burial in Greenlawn.”1
