“Following an investigation Coroner JD Rose today said Mrs. Margaret Bertram Artis, 31, of the Hill road, West Side, died of a heart attack brought on by acute alcoholism about 12:30 AM today. The woman passed away in a taxicab en route to Portsmouth General hospital.”
“Mrs. Artis was taken ill while driving an automobile on a West Side road. she pulled to a side of the road and a taxicab was called to rush the patient to a hospital.”
“On arrival at the hospital’s emergency operating room it was found the woman had died. She was accompanied by Mrs. Cora Fisher, 37, and John Luther, 38, giving his address as Ninth and Waller streets.”
“Surviving are the husband, William Artis; the parents, Mr and Mrs. Jack Bertram of the Hill road, and a sister, Mrs. Fisher, at home.”
