“A verdict of accidental death was returned by Coroner Virgil Fowler in the death of Albert Bigan, 36, former rod mill worker, 3639 Rhodes avenue, who was found lifeless under a hickory nut tree on the Eck dairy farm, between Slocum station road and Highland bend. It is thought that the man’s neck was broken in a fall from a tree.”

The body of the victim was moved to the home at noon Friday. Military funeral services will be held in the home at 3 PM. Saturday. The American Legion will be in charge. Burial under the direction of Ted Hacquard will follow in Memorial Burial park. Friends are asked to please omit flower.”1
