“John Jr. Lute was born September 13, 1848, and died at the home of his daughter, Barbara Ewing, near Henley on April 27, 1923, at the age of 75 years, 4 month and 3 weeks. In early life he united with the M.E.[/efn_note]Methodist Episcopal Church[/efn_note] church then at Henley, was baptized and when near the end of life, looked up with an unfaltering trust and said he was ready to meet his Savior.”

The following children are left to mourn his death: Mrs. Barbara Ewing of Henley; Harmon of Springfield; Noah of near Cleveland; Mrs. Liddy Vastone of Wellsburg, West Virginia; Mrs. Clara Evans of Amhurst, Ohio; and Orville of McDermott; one brother, Samuel, of McDermott, and 20 grandchildren besides a host of friends will miss him.”
