Close Call: Did Victor Coriell Have from Death Wednesday
Fell in the Ohio at the Wharfboat and was Rescued with Difficulty by His Companions
“Victor Coriell, a young man who works for Jacob Pfau at his bakery on West Second street, had a narrow escape from drowning Wesdnesday afternoon.”
“Coriell, Dave Kaylor and Charles Pfau went fishing just after dinner yesterday. They came home about dark, and Coriell met with his mishaps as he was trying to get out of the skiff. He tried to step on the wharfboat and went into the river instead. He did not come up, and his companions were thoroughly frightened. They fished around for a short time and finally Kaylor caught hold of Coriell’s hand and pulled him in the boat. He was unconscious and the boys had to work with him for some time before they succeeded in reviving him.”1
