Grim Reaper Visits the Infirmary; Claims Two Victims on the Sabbath

“The Grim Reaper, stalking into the Scioto County Infirmary Sunday, decimated the ranks of the inmates there, when two aged citizens were claimed.”

Thomas McCallister, aged 84, who spent most of his life at the infirmary, died Sunday morning at 5 o’clock, death being attributed to infirmities.”

“At one o’clock Sunday afternoon, James Sullivan, aged 76, passed away, his death being caused by paralysis. He entered the Infirmary on December 2 last. Prior to this time he made his home on Hygean Run, West Side.”

“Both Mr. McCallister and Mr. Sullivan were well known on the West Side.”

“A double funeral was held this afternoon, the first to take place at the Infirmary in many years; the bodies of the two inmates being interred in the county burying ground, near the Infirmary. The last rites were in charge of Reverend Thayer, new West Side minister.1
