“Aunt Piety Wilson, probably the oldest inmate of the county infirmary, is dying from infirmities of old age. Aunty is a Negress and past 93 years of age.”
“Clarence Campbell, a Negro inmate, also is very low with consumption. Campbell as far as known never had a permanent abode and has no relatives living.”2
The Scioto County, Ohio, Death Records indicate that Piety Wilson, a 90 year-old widow pauper, who was supposed to have been born in Kentucky died at the Scioto County Infirmary on July 27, 1903.3
